This toasty rich Chardonnay wine is an excellent value at about $1,550. This wine outperforms some California Chardonnays that cost twice as much.
This deep golden colored wine has a very enticing floral and mineral bouquet. The wine offers a rich combination of apple, pear and citrus flavors as well as the classic soft butter and toasty oak flavors of a good Californian Chardonnay. This is a robust and satisfying wine that matches well with Poached Chicken with Supreme Sauce, Roasted Rabbit with Wild Mushrooms and Veal Escallops with Parma Ham. Another good match is elegant Chinese fish dishes like Braised Carp and Steamed Seabass with Soy Sauce. Serve this wine chilled, about 10℃.
In 1972, geologist and wine connoisseur Tom Jordan acquired 275 acres of prune orchards and 1300 acres of rolling oak woodlands for conversion to vineyards and an informal preserve for deer, wild turkey, coyotes, waterfowl, and other wildlife. From the late 1970s the Jordan Winery has been making widely acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines. Always robust, these wines have become increasingly elegant over the past decade. This is also one of the prettiest wineries in California.
