From the largest appellation in the northern Rhone surrounding the more famous Hermitage vineyards, this wine has a deep purple-red color, pleasant nose of blackcurrant and raspberry and fresh black fruit flavors with an intriguing stewed fruit finish; Chapoutier is one of the largest and most important producers in the Rhone that specializes in northern Rhone wines; after a difficult period in the late 1990s and early years of the new millennium, the company is back on track making excellent wines.
Allow about 20 minutes for breathing and serve at 16℃; this fruity wine is lovely with all types of roasted or grilled meats including Korean style BBQ and Japanese skewer BBQ.
