One of the best, affordable premium Sancerre Sauvignon Blancs. This wine from the very good 2008 Loire vintage is bright pale gold, with vigorous tropical and citrus fruit aromas, and generous flavors of yellow grapes and lychee fruit and a lasting clean and pleasantly flinty finish. For ten generations the family-owned Domaine Henri Bourgeois has been one of the most important and respected producers in Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. They now also produce wines in Marlborough, New Zealand.
Serve at 10℃; excellent with many fish and white meat dishes, like sauteed veal cutlet; also a grand partner for Chinese style dry-fried pomfret.
70% aged in stainless steel tanks and the rest in French oak barrels for 7 - 8 months
Delightful now, but will continue to evolve for 5 – 7 years.
