Trend setting Super Tuscan wine that was the first to blend Merlot and Sangiovese grapes. The 2009 wine has a dense purple-red color, gracious nose of dark berry, sour cherry and chocolate and multilayered rich black fruit flavors and a lasting quite soft tannic finish. Founded in 1995 by Marchesi de' Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, Luce della Vite in now 100 percent owned by Frescobaldi and continues to make age-worthy, super premium Tuscan wines.
Allow 1+ hours for breathing and serve at 16 - 18℃; this is a wine for flavorful meat dishes including the Tuscan treat roasted wild boar and other game; also try with Hunan style goat with garlic and chilis.
90% in new and 10% in once-used oak barriques for 24 months.
Still quite youthful and will continue to improve over the next 10 - 15 years.
