Relatively new contender for the title of top Super Tuscan, this is one of the best right bank Bordeaux style blends from Tuscany. The wine features a deep ruby red color; scents of red fruits, jam and wild black cherries with traces of minerals; intense, well balanced black fruit flavors with sweet tannins and a long complex finish. Petra is a new estate established in 1997, making award-winning wines in a breathtaking modern winery designed by famed Swiss architect Mario Botta who also designed the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Allow 1.5+ hour for breathing and serve at 16℃; matches well with all types of red meats, and aged, hard cheeses; also nice with Cantonese style roasted goose.
Fermented in a combination of oak barrels and stainless steel vats, and 50% in new French oak aged for 18 months followed by 18 months bottle aging.
Drink now but it will continue to develop for 10+ years.
