Breaking with Bordeaux tradition to compete with New World marketing, Dourthe's basic Bordeaux wine is named Numero 1; the wine has a deep garnet red color, pleasant dark berries and spices nose and plum and cedar flavors; the wine has good concentration and strong tannins; match with all types of grilled meats as well as meat stews; established in 1840, Dourthe markets a range of modestly priced wines and owns several well-respected Bordeaux wines including Chateaus Belgrave (St. Laurent, 5th Growth), Maucaillou (Moulis, Cru Bourgeois) and Tronquoy-Lalande (St. Estephe, Cru Bourgeois).
