This is an impressively smooth Merlot wine. At just over $1,000 it's a fine example of high quality Chilean wines at reasonable prices.

This Bordeaux style wine is made with mostly Merlot grapes but also contains Carmenere, a Bordeaux grape now only used in South America, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Errazuri's Merlot Reserva is a lighter, more forward wine than the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva. The wine has abundant plumy fruit flavors, typical of a good Merlot wine, and gentle tannins. This is an elegant, well made wine that matches well with grilled beef and lamb dishes. The wine also matched well with Beijing Duck and Beijing Style Roasted Lamb. Serve this wine at 16 - 18℃.

In 1870, Don Maximiano Errazuriz founded the Errazuriz Winery in the Aconcagua Valley. Over the past 130 years this family owned estate has developed a reputation for making some of Chile's best wines. Eduardo Chadwick, the 5th generation descendant of the founder, now runs the company.
