Domaine de Beaurenard is one of the best producers of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and 1999 was an excellent vintage for producers like Beaurenard who picked before the late September rains. The wine has a dark purple-red color with a very ripe and fruity nose of black licorice and dark fruit. This concentrated wine offers an exciting experience of plums, cherries and chocolate in the mouth. The tannins are quite soft and round for a young wine and the finish is pleasingly long. Overall, this is an excellent value Chateauneuf-du-Pape that can be enjoyed now and will last at least another 15 years. This wine is an excellent match with hearty meat stews and cheese dishes. Serve at 18 C.
