1998 was an excellent vintage in the Barossa Valley and Wolf Blass was able to make one of their best Black Label wines, the wine has a deep purple color with reddish hue, rich scents of plums and chocolate and super concentrated spicy black fruit flavors with a hint of coffee; this is a very big wine with excellent weight in the mouth; the 20 months in new American and French oak barrels have helped mellow the wine; enjoy with roasted leg or rack of lamb or Prime Rib; raised in Germany, Wolf Blass bought his first vineyard in Australia in 1996; the company is now one of the giants of Australian wine-making producing a wide range of quality wines.
