A reasonably priced, well-balanced and elegant white wine. The 2011 Gentil is pale yellow with aromas of beeswax and houseleeks, underlying fragrant notes of cape jasmine, yeast and chalk; flavors of sweet melon with crispy acidity lead to a delicate and complex, slightly salty finish. Hugel et Fils is the most famous producer in Alsace with a wide range of wines, from good value wines to the region's finest expressions, including the Selection de Grains Nobles.
Serve at 12 - 14℃; enjoyable as an aperitif, or with salty cheeses or seafood salads; the wine also stands up well to challenging Yunnan snacks, like pea crackers with fermented tofu dipping sauce.
Light oak aging.
3 - 5 years.
